Dear Colleagues,

The 15th annual meeting of our society has been scheduled for June 2014 and the host city will be the wonderful city of Chengdu. I will be convening this meeting with my respected colleague and friend Professor Pei Fuxing, whom I have known for many years now. We are both looking forward to welcoming you all to the biggest and most vibrant city in Western China. A city of over 15 million people, it is the heart of the great Sichuan province known for its spicy culinary delights. From this we have derived the central theme of the meeting which will be:

Hot Topics in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty

Our vision will be to deliver a meeting that will introduce debate and reflect on current issues in joint replacement that we meet every day in our current practice but also share with you topics that you may need to broaden your scope of practice into the future. Our aim is to give you the tools technically, scientifically and academically to allow you to deliver better outcomes for your patients. This will include central themes to joint replacement but also recent advances and controversy as well as region specific topics as we all appreciate that our practice is influenced by the geopolitics and cultures of each country and region.

Socially Chengdu has much to offer so it would be amiss of me not to mention that when you make the trip to APAS, consider spending a few extra days to enjoy the fabulous local attractions, be it the unique Panda colony or the beautiful natural environs of the horizontal dam and river system and surrounding hiking tracks. Of course a few visits to the famous hotpot restaurants needs to be on any agenda. So mark your calendars now for this event in mid June 2014 and keep an eye on this website for more information regarding the program later this year.

Kind regards

Adj. A / Prof. Rami M. Sorial
